RCN Lehigh Valley set to host 35th annual Dream Come True Telethon and Auction
RCNLehigh Valley and Dream Come True have announced plans for the 35th annual Dream Come True Telethon and online auction to be broadcast 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 7 on RCN-TV channel 4 / HD1004, according to a news release.
Dream Come True is a nonprofit dedicated to fulfilling the dreams of children who are seriously, chronically or terminally ill.
Online auction bidding is now open and financial donations are being accepted during the fundraiser via phone and on the Dream Come True website.
“We’re excited to be able to host the annual Dream Come True Telethon this year,” Rayann Vasko, executive director of Dream Come True said in the release. “While it will be a little different due to the pandemic, children are still being diagnosed with life-altering illnesses every day and we need the community’s support nowmore than ever.”
The online auction hosted via Bidding Owl runs through 9 p.m. Dec. 7. Items available to bid on include Apple AirPods, an HP Pavilion Touch Screen laptop, an outdoor/indoor projection screen with projector, a Sonos Playbar and a Tumi Voyager backpack. Last year’s event raised over $100,000.
The live RCN television program will feature entertainment including interviews from previous Dream Come True recipients and dedicated community members. RCN-TV Sports Director and broadcaster Gary Laubach will host the program with Scott Barr and Devin Almonte.
“Now more than ever, RCN is committed to giving back to the wonderful community in the Lehigh Valley,” Sanford Ames, Jr., general manager of RCN Pennsylvania added. “For the 35th year, we are partnering with Dream ComeTrueto ensure children battling severe illness have their wishes fulfilled, and we will continue to do so for years to come.”
