Free testing to continue in Northampton County
The Pennsylvania Health Department has extended a contract with AMIExpeditionary Healthcare to provide Northampton County with free COVID-19 testing from Wednesday through Sunday.
A clinic offering drive-thru and indoor walk-in testing will be available 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the William Penn Highway Park & Ride on Emrick Boulevard.
Visitors to the first-come, firstserved clinic do not need to be symptomatic to be tested.
Employees from Northampton County Emergency Management Services will assist with coordination and logistics.
The clinic can test up to 450 people a day.
“Northampton County is experiencing a spike in coronavirus cases and we’re grateful to the Pennsylvania Department of Health for providing us with additional testing,” County Executive Lamont McClure said in a statement.No appointment is necessary. Visitors are encouraged to bring a photo ID or insurance card. Registration will also be completed on-site.
Results are available two to seven days after testing. People who test positive will receive a phonecall from AMI, while those who test negative will be notified by email.
Individuals who are tested should self-quarantine while they await results. Those wholive with others should quarantine in a private room and use a private bathroom if possible.
Others living in the home with the individual awaiting test results should also stay at home. TheHealth Department has additional instructions on its website for individuals waiting for a COVID-19 test result.
