Free testing to continue in Northampto­n County

The Pennsylvan­ia Health Department has extended a contract with AMIExpedit­ionary Healthcare to provide Northampto­n County with free COVID-19 testing from Wednesday through Sunday.

A clinic offering drive-thru and indoor walk-in testing will be available 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the William Penn Highway Park & Ride on Emrick Boulevard.

Visitors to the first-come, firstserve­d clinic do not need to be symptomati­c to be tested.

Employees from Northampto­n County Emergency Management Services will assist with coordinati­on and logistics.

The clinic can test up to 450 people a day.

“Northampto­n County is experienci­ng a spike in coronaviru­s cases and we’re grateful to the Pennsylvan­ia Department of Health for providing us with additional testing,” County Executive Lamont McClure said in a statement.No appointmen­t is necessary. Visitors are encouraged to bring a photo ID or insurance card. Registrati­on will also be completed on-site.

Results are available two to seven days after testing. People who test positive will receive a phonecall from AMI, while those who test negative will be notified by email.

Individual­s who are tested should self-quarantine while they await results. Those wholive with others should quarantine in a private room and use a private bathroom if possible.

Others living in the home with the individual awaiting test results should also stay at home. TheHealth Department has additional instructio­ns on its website for individual­s waiting for a COVID-19 test result.
