Moravian College plans graduation ceremonies

- — Christina Tatu

Moravian College will hold commencement ceremonies for the class of 2021, as well as for the class of 2020, May 8 on the college’s Main Street campus.

Two ceremonies will be held for the class of 2021 and one ceremony for the class of 2020. Graduates for both classes will be able to invite three guests to their respective ceremony, which will be outside, on John Makuvek Field.

“After a tumultuous year dealing with the pandemic, the entire Moravian College community is excited that this year’s commencement ceremony will be held in person and on campus,” college President Bryon Grigsby said in a news release Monday. “We think it’s important to include the class of 2020 in this year’s graduation event, since their senior year was cut short last year when the pandemic began, and the class of 2021 will also get the sendoff they deserve, surrounded by family and friends.”

The commencement ceremonies will be staggered to accommodate the graduates and their guests. Attendees are required to wear a mask and maintain physical distancing, among other COVID-19 precautions.

Commencement ceremonies will take place at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. for the class of 2021, and at 5:30 p.m. for the class of 2020.

RSVP details will be sent to students.

Moravian officials will closely monitor the COVID situation in Bethlehem and adjust plans if necessary. For information, go to moravian.edu/commencement.
