The Morning Call

Diane M. Sandler

-

A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Diane M. Sandler of Allentown died at her daughter, Ferne's house in Mt. Laurel, NJ on March 8, 2021. She was 89. Diane was born on November 18, 1931 in Philadelphia to David and Claire Rosencrantz. She attended Philadelphia High School for Girls and graduated in 1949. After getting married, she moved to Allentown in 1956. She was a homemaker and also worked as an administrative assistant at Muhlenberg College's School of Continuing Studies in the early 1980s. Typical of her natural inclination to help others, she was the president of the Allentown Chapter of Women's American ORT, an organization dedicated to removing economic and social barriers to education, from 1969 – 1973. Diane was universally known among her family and friends as the most selfless and caring person. She always put her family and friends' needs before her own. Her friends were lifetime friends, sharing in every life event of theirs, their children, and their grandchildren together. Whether it was simply the weekly game of Mahjongg, travel to far off places such as Israel, China, or Italy, or retirement in Delray Beach, FL, her world was organized with her friends in mind. And her love for her friends was only exceeded by her love for her family, her husband, her children, her loving sister Joan Cohan, and especially her two grandsons, who she loved to spoil at every opportunity. She was a member of Temple Beth El in Allentown. Diane is survived by her children, Ferne (Norman Weiss) and Robert (Judy) and her grandsons Drew and Evan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Marvin Sandler.
