Dr. Harry B. Burger, 95, of Neffs, died Saturday, March 6, 2021 in AT HOME at PARKLAND, Schnecksvi­lle. He was the husband of the late Shirley G. (Batzel) Burger. Born in Trenton, NJ, August 20, 1925, Harry was the son of the late Harry Edward and Helen (Bossert) Burger. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II with a rank of SGT. He then joined the Army Reserves serving 24 years earning a rank of LTC. A graduate of Temple University with a Ed.D, Dr. Burger retired as Superinten­dent of Schools for Northweste­rn Lehigh School District in New Tripoli from 1974 – 1980. Prior to that, he served at the former Darby-Colwyn School District in Delaware County, Assistant County Superinten­dent of York County Schools, Superinten­dent of Schools at Stratford School District in Camden County, NJ, and Supervisin­g Principal of Souderton Area School District. He started his career in education in various teaching and supervisor­y roles in Montgomery County. Active in the life of his church, Dr. Burger was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, where he formerly served on the consistory, taught adult Sunday school and lay reader, served on the property committee and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Pre-School program. He was a member of Slatington Lodge # 440, F.& A.M. and formerly a member of Warren Lodge # 310 F.& A.M. in Collegevil­le. A 32nd Degree Mason, he was a member of the Lehigh Consistory,Valley of Allentown. Dr. Burger had a deep love and respect for nature and the great outdoors. He instilled this attribute in all of his sons. Survivors: Sons, Dr. Harry R. Burger (Karen) of New Mexico, Dale M. Burger (Diane) of Warminster, Brian B. Burger of Maine, Keith Timothy Burger (Charmaine) of Schnecksvi­lle; nine grandchild­ren; eleven great grandchild­ren. Service: Funeral services will be held 10:30 am. Thursday, March 11, 2021 in the Heintzelma­n Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksvi­lle with the Rev. Kris P. Snyder-Samuelson officiatin­g. Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Entombment with military honors will follow the service at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler, PA.
