Police investigate third shooting this week
Allentown police are investigating an overnight shooting that left one person injured early Friday.
Capt.James Keiser said a man was injured about 12:15 a.m. at North Mohr and Allen streets. He was taken to an area hospital with a single gunshot wound and was listed in stable condition.
Allentown detectives are investigating, Keiser said.
Friday’s incident was the third shooting in the city this week.
Authorities continue to investigate the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old on Lehigh Street in the city Monday night.
The Lehigh County coroner’s office said Erik Mondragon was killed by gunfire in the 700 block of Lehigh Street. A relative and neighbor of the victim said Mondragon’s wife was also struck by a bullet when a group of teens opened fire following an argument that began with another group of teenagers.
A short time later, police say they responded to the 500 block of North Fifth Street for reports of a shooting. Officers found an individual at the scene with a gunshot wound in the leg.
The victim was treated at the scene and taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, but was uncooperative with investigators.
