Man charged with leaving body in dumpster
A man has been charged with abusing a corpse after a woman’s body was found in a dumpster last month in Monroe County.
Authorities are awaiting DNA confirmation of the woman’s identity before releasing it, according to a news release from Stroud Area Regional police. Her body was found July 22 in the 200 block of Washington Street in East Stroudsburg.
Police say that Corbin Anthony DeSimone, 22, was seen meeting a woman July 17 in East Stroudsburg. The next day, the two were seen on video while DeSimone bought heroin from a drug dealer, according to the news release. The woman entered DeSimone’s room and was never seen leaving.
On July 22, video captured DeSimone, who was staying at the GAK Construction building, dragging what appears to be a heavy suitcase, according to the news release. Later that morning, GAK Construction employees complained of a horrible smell in the building, found blood and fluids in a closet, and then the body, which was partially covered by a suitcase, in the dumpster.
“She overdosed and I didn’t know what to do,” DeSimone told the drug dealer, according to the news release. He was charged Tuesday.
DiSimone was also charged with tampering with evidence and criminal use of a communication facility. He was arraigned before District Judge Michael Muth and sent to Monroe County jail without bail.
The investigation is ongoing and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Dan Knowles at dknowles@sarpd.com or 570-421-6800-ext 1046.
