ATHLETES OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
The Morning Call sports staff will nominate three male and three female athletes each week from area schools based on their performance from the previous week. You are invited to vote for one male and one female athlete. Winners will be announced in Friday’s Morning Call Sports section. One male and one female winner will be awarded a $500 scholarship by CH Foundation. Voting is open from 5 p.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Thursday at themorningcall.com/athleteoftheweek
MALE
Wilson Bibiano, Wilson boys soccer
Scored 7 goals and added 2 assists as Warriors went 1-1 last week to clinch District 11 Class 3A playoff berth. Bibiano has 38 goals and 11 assists this season.
Matt Frame, Northern Lehigh football
The running back rushed for 155 yards and 4 touchdowns and caught a TD pass in 62-30 win over Pen Argyl. He is closing in on 2nd consecutive season with 1,000 rushing yards.
Brian Taylor, Freedom football
The quarterback ran 5 times for 72 yards and a TD and completed 7 of 9 passes for 113 yards for 2 scores in a 42-0 win over Pleasant Valley.
FEMALE
Taylor Kranzley, Northampton field hockey
The center back scored the game-winner against Liberty, assisted on the game-winner against Whitehall, and both goals in OT loss to Nazareth.
Raine Korpics, Northampton girls soccer
Scored a hat trick in 4-0 win over Whitehall and contributed game-winner in 3-2 win over Moravian Academy. Korpics has 21 goals and 4 assists this season.
Jamilie Atiyeh, Moravian Academy tennis
Atiyeh went 3-0 at No. 3 singles in the District 11 Class 2A team tournament to help the Lions win a third consecutive title.
