The Morning Call

Add Parkland’s Adams to list of 1,000-yard rushers

- By Keith Groller

The weather conditions were as bad as anyone could ever remember them for a high school football Friday last week and the defenses had an advantage.

That especially was the case at Parkland where the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference South’s lone grass field was turned into a mud bowl.

Yet, despite the shaky footing, the Trojans’ Dahlir Adams ran for 98 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries in his team’s 25-14 win over Emmaus.

Adams credited his offensive line and using “short, choppy steps” to have success against one of the league’s best defensive in conditions that made every step treacherous.

The performance earned Adams his team’s offensive player of the game honors and also put him over 1,000 yards rushing on the season where he joins Freedom’s Deante Crawford in that category.

On a turf field and in better conditions the next day against Liberty, Crawford ran for 147 yards on 32 carries in a 28-13 victory and went over the 1,200-yard mark in the process.

Freedom quarterback Brian Taylor threw for 110 yards in the same game and is over 1,200 yards passing this season.

Meanwhile, Nazareth’s Mason Kuehner had four catches in the rain and wind against Easton for 108 yards and a touchdown and he has emerged as the division’s top receiver in both receptions and receiving yards.

Here’s a look at the EPC South stat leaders:
