2002: Moravian coasts past runnerup Susquehann­a 208-105 to capture its 10th straight women’s MAC track and field title.

2002: Rachel Mowrey throws a four-hit shutout and Moravian blanks Albright 6-0 at Lebanon Valley for its second straight MAC Commonweal­th softball title and the Greyhounds’ fifth straight NCAA Division III berth.

1998: Stroudsbur­g’s Tarik ElBassioiu­ni becomes the fifth threetime District 11 boys singles tennis champion in history when he outlasts Salisbury’s Mike Furman 7-5, 7-6 (7-1) in the finals.

1998: Moravian receives its first NCAA Division III Tournament softball bid to play Western Maryland in the East Regional opener at Messiah. The Greyhounds finish 27-14 after losing twice following an opening-round win. 1993: 62-year-old Bill Paulik, the only boys basketball coach ever at Salisbury High School, retires following his 30th season with the Falcons. In his tenure with the Falcons, Paulik compiles a 539-241 record, the second-most wins in Lehigh Valley history, and wins six Colonial League titles, three LehighNort­hampton League crowns, eight LNL divisional championsh­ips and four District 11 banners.

1968: Catasauqua native and North Carolina All-American Larry Miller signs with the ABA’s Los Angeles Stars a three-year, $150,000 contract that also includes a “substantia­l bonus.”Miller would spend his entire profession­al career in the ABA and set the single-game scoring record of 67 while playing for the Carolina Cougars in 1971-72.
