A look back at Lehigh Valley sports stories over the years from May 6.

2008: Easton’s Jordan Oliver is named the national high school wrestler of the year by the national Wrestling Coaches Associatio­n. The Oklahoma State-bound Oliver won his third straight PIAA Class 3A title in March (he was second as a freshman) and compiled a 175-5 career record, setting a District 11 record for career victories.

2006: Moravian (33-7) wins its sixth straight Commonweal­th Conference softball tournament title and secures its ninth straight trip to the NCAA Division III playoffs with a 3-1 win over Lebanon Valley after falling to the Flying Dutchmen 3-1 earlier in the day. Senior Meagan Hennessy, who allows three hits in the title game, is named the tournament MVP for the second straight year. 2006: In a rare matchup between opposing teams coached by husband and wife, Chris Bleam’s Parkland Trojans down Kelly Bleam’s Northweste­rn Tigers 4-2 in a nonleague girls soccer contest. 2001: In CART’s final race at the Nazareth Speedway, rookie Scott Dixon, 2 months shy of his 21st birthday, becomes the youngest winner in an open-wheel race when he wins the Lehigh Valley Grand Prix before an estimated 25,000 fans.

1992: Less than a month after no-hitting Notre Dame in his first varsity start, Pocono Mountain’s Al Kingsbury throws another gem at the Crusaders, striking out 10 and walking three in an 11-0, 6-inning Centennial League victory.

1982: Southern Lehigh junior Debbie Todd tosses her third no-hitter of the season in a 10-0, 5-inning Colonial League victory over Palisades.
