Colonial League softball tournament pairings set
Last year’s Colonial League softball championship game featured a memorable nine-inning battle between Northwestern Lehigh and Bangor at Patriots Park. The Tigers won 8-7 in walk-off fashion.
Are more memorable matchups in store in this year’s tournament which returns to Patriots Park?
It begins with a pair of games Friday night.
At 5 p.m., No. 3 seed Southern Lehigh (15-5, 12-4) will play No. 6 Palmerton (13-7, 9-7).
In the nightcap, scheduled for 7 p.m., No. 4 Palisades (11-6) will take on No. 5 Northern Lehigh (13-7, 10-6).
The semifinals are scheduled for Tuesday night with the Palmerton/Southern Lehigh winner taking on No. 2 Bangor (13-7, 12-4) at 5 p.m and the Palisades/Northern Lehigh survivor meeting No. 1 Northwestern Lehigh (15-3, 14-2) at 7 p.m.
Of the 26 previous Colonial League tournaments — since the league merged with the Centennial League in 1994-95 — Southern Lehigh has the most championships with nine. Bangor has the second most with five and Northwestern
and Northern Lehigh have three titles apiece.

Palisades 2, Catasauqua 0 Pirates freshman Karlye Teman and Rough Riders sophomore Delaney Troxell hooked up in a classic pitcher’s duel. Teman allowed just one hit and struck out 13. Troxell gave up three hits and fanned 11. But Palisades was able to push across two unearned runs in the first inning and made it stick for its eighth straight win. Ashley Amato doubled for the game’s lone RBI and also scored a run.
In a nonleague game, Allentown Central Catholic collected 13 hits and got a three-hit shutout from Jennifer Milisits in a 9-0 win over Notre Dame-Green Pond. Both teams are 6-13.
Colonial League baseball Salisbury 7, Catasauqua 5
The Falcons rallied back from a 5-0 deficit, getting a two-run triple by Jake Bucchin for the go-ahead runs to cap a four-run fifth inning.
Lucas Graver tied the game earlier in the inning with a two-run single. Bucchin finished with four RBIs. Matt Fotta and Bryann Rivera both had two hits and knocked in runs for the Rough Riders, who finished
6-14. Wilson 4, Pen Argyl 3
Wilson’s Zak Kardos had a double, triple and home run and scored twice. Noah Wallaesa added a home run as the Warriors
finished the season at 6-14. Mike Mack had two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs for the Green Knights. Brady Lawless had three hits, including a double, for Pen Argyl which finished 3-17.
