Betty J. (Rehrig) Tonelis

86 years of age and former resident of Whitehall and Allentown, passed away peacefully on Friday May 6, 2022 in North Carolina.

She was the wife of Edward Tonelis for 44 years at the time of his passing in 2000. Born in Schuylkill County, she was a daughter of the late Raymond H. and Katie E. (Nunemacher) Rehrig. A 1953 graduate of Slatington High School, she worked in customer service for the Lehigh Valley Health Network for over 35 years, retiring in 2000. She was a member of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Whitehall and the Golden Agers. She enjoyed her memberships in the LVHN Retirees and

AARP in Northampton. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Kathy Tonelis of Kings Mountain, NC; granddaughters Tanya Tonelis and Katrina Hillman with husband Anthony; great-grandchildren Jayden and Kennedy Byers, and Khloe Hillman, along with nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by daughter Michele Tonelis in 2003, son Michael Tonelis in 2015, sisters Mamie Snyder and Evelyn Rehrig and brothers Raymond, James, and Larry Rehrig. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Father Stanley Moczydlowski on Monday May 16, 2022 at 11:00 am in Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 618 Fullerton Ave. Whitehall, PA 18052, where her viewing will begin at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.
