50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION.

Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 550 Fleetwood Road, Bowers, will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Sunday.

The church was actually formed in 1969 and the current building was dedicated in 1972. The first service in the new building was held Nov. 5, 1972. Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church is the partnership created by the congregational members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, located in Lyons and the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bowers that suffered devastation by fire in 1966. At the 10:30 a.m. service they will celebrate All Saint’s Sunday and dedicate the newly restored bells. In 2017 the church bells, one from St. Paul’s and one from Trinity, which were housed on the beams above the church, were removed due to structural damage concerns. A coffee hour will be held after the morning service to celebrate and recognize the hard work of everyone involved in the revitalization of the ringing of the bells of HOPE.

A Celebration Service begins at 4 p.m. with Pastor Thomas Reinsel, Hope’s first ordained/called pastor, leading the service. Several clergy both past and present will be participating in leading the service. Following the service, a reception celebration will be held at Janelle Restaurant and Catering Hall with dinner, remembrances and fellowship. Info: 610-682-7236.
