Gary A. Smith
Gary A. Smith, 87, of Pen Argyl, PA, passed away on October 30, 2022 in Philadelphia, PA. Born on January
26, 1935 in Bluefield, VA, he was the son of the late C. Ralph and Mary Hassan Smith. Gary was a United States Army Veteran. In the 1960's, Gary was a radio journalist, eventually serving as News Director for WEST Radio in Easton, PA, where he was also host of a popular call-in radio show, Voice of the People. He then went on to work for the
City of Easton as Redevelopment Coordinator in the late 60's. After that, he became a home builder with Benjamin Contracting and later as owner of Aralyn Corporation. Gary retired as
the Executive Director of the Easton Housing Authority. Gary was a devoted husband and
father. He was also a passionate equestrian and owned horses for many years. He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church,
Pen Argyl, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Smith, his brother Donald Smith, and his granddaughter, Lindsey McGinley. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris Groller Smith of Pen Argyl, PA, his children, Stephanie McGinley, of New Ringgold, PA, and Gary Smith and his wife, Gina
Maisto Smith, of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by his siblings, Rev. Douglas Smith, OSFS and Lawrence Smith. Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren, Dylan Davison (Hugh), Jake, Sawyer, Lauren, Alex, Sam, and Carrie Smith, along with his great-grandson, Braden McGinley. Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022 from 11 AM to 1 PM in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church,
300 W. Babbitt Ave., Pen Argyl, PA 18072. A
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1 PM. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Pen Argyl, PA. The Finegan Funeral Home,
Palmer Twp., PA, has been entrusted with his arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gary's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital at www.stjude/donate.
