First snowfall of season possible
The first significant snowfall of the season is expected to hit the northeastern U.S. Tuesday night into Wednesday. While the vast majority of the Lehigh Valley will only see rain, some of the northern areas could see a dusting of snow.
Most of the Valley should expect rain starting late Tuesday afternoon and continuing through the night, according to AccuWeather. The high on Tuesday is expected to be 46 degrees, with an overnight low of 37 early Wednesday morning.
The bulk of the wet weather is expected during the Wednesday morning rush and will mostly be rain. Temperatures will rise through the morning to 48 degrees by noon.
Areas north of Route 22 could see a little bit of snow, but less than 1 inch.
The snow will be more pronounced to the north of the Lehigh Valley. The National Weather Service says about 1 inches could fall in the Poconos.
AccuWeather expects a widespread swath of 1-3 inches of snow from Michigan and northern Pennsylvania into southern Quebec and Maine.
Higher snowfall amounts are expected in northern New England, where the coldest air will settle in, as well as downwind of the Great Lakes.
Areas in northern New England could receive up to a foot of snow.
