Harvey L. Emert, III,

78, of Catasauqua, died unexpected­ly at his home November 12, 2022. He was the husband of Eugenia A. (Menio) Emert of Catasauqua and would

have celebrated 46 years of marriage together next month. Born in Pottstown, he was a son of the late Harvey L. Jr. and Alice (Henry) Emert. Harvey was a 1961 graduate of Catasauqua High School. He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Greenland and Germany. After the service, Harvey received his Associates Degree in Fire Technology and began a lifelong career in firefighti­ng. He served as a volunteer fireman in a variety of capacities for the Catasauqua Fire Department for 55 years. He was an associatio­n officer , and served as Deputy Chief, Captain of the Fire Police and a member of Firemen Relief. Harvey worked as a firefighte­r for A.B.E. Airport (LVIA) for 17 years. He also worked in code enforcemen­t for a variety of municipali­ties

and constructi­on companies around the Lehigh Valley. Harvey was an active member of St. Mary's in Catasauqua where he was member of

the choir and helped with men's group bingo, the block party, and church dinners. He was also an integral part of the Catasauqua Food Bank, volunteeri­ng to help in their efforts week after week. Harvey was the unofficial Mayor of East Catty. He always had a smile on his face and a helping hand. Above all he was a family man. He was a devoted husband and father and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving along with his wife Eugenia are daughter Jillian K. Emert and fiancé Jonathan Keichel; son Harvey L. IV and wife Tammy; sister Lillian Serfass and husband Wayne. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Ralph Gery and brother Richard Emert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am Friday November 18th, 2022 at St. Mary's Church, 122 Union St. Catasauqua. His viewings will be from 6-8pm Thursday, November 17th at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, 18032 and again from 9-10am Friday at the church.
