Frances was born in Newark, NJ, January 21, 1950 to the late Armando da Silva and Carmen Duallo Braz. Frances graduated from J.P. Stevens High School in Edison, NJ. It was here that she met her high school sweetheart, Barry McDonough. After high school Frances attended Trenton State (The College of New Jersey) where she earned a

bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, then went on to earn a Master's Degree from Kean University. Frances lived in Plainsboro, NJ for most of her life before moving to Emmaus in 2020. Frances' passion was teaching and working with children. She began her career at Menlo Park Terrace while living in Plainfield.

Then continued teaching at Millstone River and then Village School in West Windsor-Plainsboro where she retired after 38 years. When Frances wasn't in the classroom, she was spending time with her husband and three children. Frances stressed the importance of family and always made sure that they were her number one priority. She would attend every family gathering, sporting event, play and school celebration. For her children's birthday each year she would make them a special cake with a character of their choice- something that they always looked forward to. She loved each of her grandchildren dearly. Frances is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, R. Barry McDonough; her sons Ryan McDonough (Shana), Derek McDonough, and daughter Rachel Dawson (Ian); five grandchildren: Lilly, Arden and Ridge McDonough; and Avery and Mckenna Dawson.
