The Morning Call

Letter unfair to Republicans

-

Although I do not agree with many of the sentiments expressed in the letters page of The Morning Call, people are entitled to their own opinions. But that principle does not excuse one Nov. 12 letter that is exceptionally uninformed and abusive.

This mean-spirited writer obviously despises Donald Trump and blasts the entire Republican Party even though most Republicans, including me, no longer have any use for Trump.

The writer asserts that “Many [Republicans who supported Trump] claim to be Christians, yet their behavior screams everything that is anti-Christ.” Hello? Similar nastiness could be directed at President Joe Biden. But what would be the point? Most people — Democrats and Republicans — know that Biden is what he is, as is Trump.

Not satisfied, the writer cites the violent attack on Paul Pelosi, claiming that enough Republicans did not speak out against that attack and that “They [Republicans] are no better than the Nazis of WW II, who claimed they were only following orders.”

Such diatribes accomplish nothing except enabling this writer to get some things off her chest. Friends, let us work to bring people together, not encourage the rantings of some frustrated personalities.
