Election deniers evoke science fiction film

There are times when science fiction movies erupt from the recesses of my memories.

In recent times I have connected with a strange phenomenon. I can be interacting with friends and acquaintances who sound and appear quite normal. But then they reveal a belief that the 2020 election was stolen. I’ve also met one who believes that Hillary Clinton drinks the blood of teenage girls. And one who is convinced that Barack Obama is a Muslim born in Kenya. Seriously.

My mind will then drift back to “Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” the cult classic where aliens took over the body without changing the outward appearance. The aliens could only succeed if the victim fell asleep. The stuff of nightmares.

At times I feel like I am living in the remake of a horror film created by our former president.
