The Morning Call

Voters chose liberty and democracy

-

Many years ago, my very conservative brother said to me, “What we need in this country is another revolutionary Civil War.” My response was, “That’s what you want for your children and grandchildren?” He was silent.

I have thought a lot about that as our election cycle played out in the recent months. I saw all these election deniers across this country threatening to tear democracy and our country down. I saw this as the beginning of the end. I prayed for my children and grandchildren.

My prayers have been answered. Our democracy has held. Our citizens have chosen sanity over craziness. Freedom and equality over negative liberty controlled by a few with no integrity.

We need many different representative voices in this country to provide for all. I am thankful that the people voted for the right people to represent us and rejected the crazy ones who were running to destroy our great country.

God bless America, land that I love. This is what I want for my children and grandchildren.
