Northwestern Lehigh boys win Class 2A state title, 2-1
Northwestern Lehigh won the PIAA Class 2A boys state soccer championship Saturday with a 2-1 victory over Lancaster Catholic in Mechanicsburg.
Northwestern reached the state title game by prevailing in penalty kicks (5-3) to earn a 2-1 victory over Lewisburg on Wednesday at North Schuylkill High School.
The Tigers are the second Colonial League team to win a state championship to cap the 2022 season, following Moravian Academy’s win in the 1A title game on Friday.
Northwestern broke through in its third trip to the final. The Tigers lost the 3A title twice to Lower Dauphin 3-0 in 2016 and 4-1 in 2017.
