Supreme Court justices mired in past
The issue with the U.S. Supreme Court is the justices are a group who have lived most of their lives in isolation. This isolation has been educational, social and economic. Too much time is spent on and in the past. In many cases they are prisoners of the past. There are no phone lines to Jefferson or Madison. They seem to be totally ignorant as to the ever changing needs and forces at work in our contemporary society. Nor do the seem to care.
They seem to be blind to what the election results confirmed. They indicate most voters support abortion rights, support protecting voting rights and support minority rights. Unpopular laws not supported by society are doomed to fail. Certainly Prohibition is an example of a law that from day one failed. We must learn from the past and honor it, however the Supreme Court should never be a prisoner of the past.
The future comes too quickly. The needs and requirements of each generation must be understood and respected. Laws must change to meet these needs and changes Stephen Aronson
