Declawing ban a humane move

-

As an employee of Lehigh Valley Humane Society and Vet Clinic, I want to send my gratitude to Allentown City Council for passing a ban on cruel cat declawing.

Too many times have we seen cats subjected to lifelong pain when their owners decide to declaw them. When they enter our shelter, these declawed cats often come with behavioral issues and have a difficult time using the litterbox, which decreases their chances of adoption. My co-workers and I are relieved that Allentown now prohibits declawing, and we hope we’ll see fewer and fewer cats without their claws. Thank you again to our wonderful City Council for protecting the cats of Allentown.
