Arrest warrant issued for ‘sexually violent predator’

State police have issued an arrest warrant for a 38-year-old Lehigh Valley man who officials say hasn’t followed Megan’s Law registrati­on requiremen­ts.

Manuel Reichard is classified as a “sexually violent predator” with a history of absconding, according to a news release issued last week from state police. On the Megan’s Law website, his primary offense is listed as aggravated indecent assault. He was convicted in 2004, according to the website.

Reichard is transient and police believe he is in the Valley, according to the release.

Megan’s Law is a federal law requiring police and other law enforcemen­t to make informatio­n available to the public about registered sex offenders. Enacted in Pennsylvan­ia in 1995 by Gov. Tom Ridge, the state law requires individual­s convicted of certain offenses register with state police.
