Allentown man ID’d as shooting victim

One of the two people shot in the middle of the day Tuesday in Allentown has died, police said in a news release.

Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio on Thursday identified the victim as Corey R. Daniels, 31, of Allentown.

Buglio said Daniels was pronounced dead at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Salisbury Township. The coroner confirmed that Daniels died from a gunshot wound and ruled the manner of death a homicide. and said Daniels died from a gunshot wound. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Police responded to a report of a shooting at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the area of Fifth and Pratt streets. Two adults were found with gunshot wounds and were taken to an area hospital for treatment, police said.

The investigat­ion is ongoing and police said the public is not in any danger. No further informatio­n was released Thursday.
