Acting superintendent hosts parent forum
Allentown schools acting Superintendent Carol Birks held her first parent forum Wednesday night at Hays Elementary School. About 50 parents, students and staff members spoke in small groups about what they want to see from Birks in the months ahead: For some, that was a focus on safety, school pride and parent engagement. Birks said she wants to continue meeting parents where they are to increase turnout at future parent meetings. “The adults need lollipops too,” Birks said. “They need to know people care about them to do their best work.” The next district parent meeting will be Jan. 10 at a location to be determined.
