George Francis Hornung, 78, of Bethlehem Township, died Sunday,

December 4, 2022 at home. He was the husband of Michele M. (Mikulec) Hornung. George was born in Bethlehem and was the son of the late George A. and Anna F. (Schweisgut) Hornung. He was a 1961 graduate of Liberty High School he then attended Penn State University and Lafayette College.

George worked in the Engineerin­g Department of the City of Bethlehem for 4 years and was retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corp. where he worked as a field engineer for 31 years. After he left the Steel, he enjoyed working as an estimator for Brandenbur­g Industrial Services Co. for 15 years until retirement.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfathe­r, and great-grandfathe­r. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. He also enjoyed tennis, kayaking, basketball, the computer and his granddogs. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit that delighted many who knew him. He helped many relatives, friends, and neighbors in their daily lives as he had an innate ability to fix things.

Survivors: In addition to his loving wife of 58 years; daughter: Samantha (Paul A.) Pendzick of NC; four grandsons: Bradley (Emily) Pendzick of Bethlehem, Gregory (Paige) Pendzick of MD,

Zachary Pendzick of Philadelph­ia and Alexander Pendzick of NC; 3 great-grandchild­ren:

Paxton, Ellison, and Lennon Pendzick of Bethlehem; sisters: Carolyn Paulson of Bethlehem, and Margaret "Peg" (Neal) Apgar of Nazareth; and nephew Jeffrey (Melissa) Paulson of Pen Argyl.
