Mary Helen Murdy (née Robb), 98, loving wife, mother, Nana and Great

Nana, passed away peacefully in the arms of her daughters in the early hours of Tuesday, March 14, 2023. She was the loving and devoted wife to James W. Murdy, who died in 2018 after they celebrated 72 years of marriage.

Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Anthony Steven and Mary Elizabeth (Onufer) Robb. Mary graduated from William Allen High School and then went on to business school. On March 2, 1946 she married the love of her life, James, a Navy veteran. Together they raised three children. Mary was a guard with Bethlehem Steel and then worked at the Allentown Hosiery Mill, followed by office work with Sears & Roebuck and retired after 19 years with the Allentown School District.

Mary was passionate about and grateful for the gift of motherhood. She was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan. She enjoyed vacationin­g at the beach and loved to play cards, word puzzles, watch her Hallmark movies and most of all, gaming at the casino. Mary, a devout Catholic, was a member of St. Paul’s R.C. Church in Allentown.

Survivors: Daughters, Rosemary Murdy-Haber and her husband Attorney Richard J. Haber of Bethlehem and Patricia Murdy-Cressman and her husband James E. Cressman of Upper Macungie Township, with whom she resided; loving granddaugh­ter, Valarie M. (Fenstermak­er) Belejo and her husband Daniel of Macungie; precious great-grandchild­ren, Isabella Marie and Anthony James Belejo; several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her husband James W., son James A., sister Frances Hofstetter and brother James H. Robb.

Services: A viewing will be held from 9:3010:30 AM on Monday, March 20, 2023 in the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Inc., 46 E. Susquehann­a Street, Allentown. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM in St. Paul’s R.C. Church,

920 S. 2nd Street, Allentown. Services will conclude with interment at Resurrecti­on Cemetery, Wescosvill­e.
