Information contained in search warrants obtained by state police offer new details into the case of two teens killed in Schuylkill County.

The seven warrants, requested by police last week and approved by District Judge David A. Plachko in Port Carbon, provide a new look into what led to the deaths of Hunter Mock, 18, and Angelito

Xavier Caraballo, 16, both of New Philadelphia. Their bodies were found in a wooded area off Ferndale Road about 1 mile east of Route 209.

Mock suffered a gunshot wound to the head, while Caraballo had several puncture wounds and/or laceration-type injuries that caused his death, forensics records show.

The state police requested warrants for:

Evidence inside a white Dodge Journey SUV.

Cellphones in custody of the state police related to the incident.

Potential evidence at a home in Port Carbon related to the person allegedly driving the SUV.

A DNA swab and photographs of the body of a man who told police he was with both teens Oct. 8 but doesn’t know what happened to them as he ran away from the scene.

Medical records of the man for his time at Lehigh Valley Hospital after the incident.

A DNA swab of the SUV driver and photos of his body.

No charges have been filed in the homicide investigation.

The new documents show a female friend of the victims had called state police at Frackville at 3:25 a.m. Oct. 10 to report she had found Mock and Caraballo at “The Sanchez,” an old mining area filled with water. Police later discovered their bodies at the bottom of the embankment.

Before her call, another borough resident had called police Oct. 8 to say a man knocked on the front door at 11:52 p.m. asking for help. He appeared barefoot with ripped sweatpants and shook from the cold.

During the investigation, the man told police he had been hanging out with Mock and Caraballo, his two friends, and another friend. They drove to New Philadelphia, parked the vehicle and walked into the woods, he told police.

They drank alcohol and smoked marijuana, he said. One of the men pulled out a firearm and shot toward Mock and Caraballo, he told police.

The man said he heard 10-20 gunshots as he ran from the scene. He swam through a pond, ran for 25 to 30 minutes and found himself knocking on the resident’s door. The man was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill for injuries, including cuts and lacerations, police said.

In a subsequent interview, the man told police that he had been picked up in the SUV for which police had requested a search warrant. The driver had contacted him via Instagram to hang out with Caraballo and possibly some women.
