CLEVELAND — It wasn’t so much a baseball game as it was calling hours.

The only thing missing was some organ music.

With 35 people — by actual count — in the left field bleachers at game time, the two biggest deadbeats in the American League, the Indians and Twins, met at Progressive Field Tuesday night.

When it comes to dramatic late September baseball — it doesn’t get much smaller than this.

When it comes to crowds, it doesn’t get much smaller than the few hundred who were in the seats when the Twins beat the Indians 6-5 in 12 innings.

The Twins broke a 4-4 tie in the 12th by scoring a runner from second base — on a groundball to second base.

Starting in the fifth inning the Indians changed pitchers in every inning and wound up setting a club record by using 10 pitchers, one shy of the American League record.

Game No.148 for the Indians was start No.1 for David Huff, who since his callup from Columbus pitched his way ahead of Jeanmar Gomez and into the starting rotation.

Huff was shaky in the first inning but otherwise all right. In 4 1/3 innings he gave up three runs on seven hits.

The Twins started P.J. Walters, who in six major league starts since May 27 was 0-3 with a 9.99 ERA and an opponents batting average of .375.
