Officers also saw multiple cuts to the man’s abdomen — which he said he inflicted himself — and a larger knife lying on the tree lawn of the home, Costantino said
The man admitted to owning both knives and told police he tried to cut a 40-year-old man prior to hurting himself
Police located the victim, who told officers he was walking along the sidewalk on Ninth Street when he stopped to talk with the suspect
During the conversation, he said his phone rang While on the phone, the man said he felt the suspect come up behind him and place something against his neck
The man said he then took off running
The victim suffered a small cut to his neck, but did not require medical treatment, Costantino said
The suspect was transported to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center for evaluation
Costantino said the suspect will be charged with felonious assault, once released from the hospital
