ELYRIA – Jack “Pop” Cole, 92 of Elyria passed aw a y peacefully in the New Life Hospice of Lorain following a short illness.

He was born in Decab, Mississipp­i coming to Elyria in 1953.

Mr. Cole was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, WWII as a truck driver station in Okinawa, Japan.

He was employed as a peeler and laborer for U.S. Steel Corp. of Lorain retiring in 1983.

A member of Jones Chapel AME Church where he served as Deacon, usher and choir member.

He enjoyed old western shows, reading western books and he was an avid sports fan.

Survived by daughter, Daria Cole of Elyria, sons Lamar Cole of Elyria, Joe Cole of Jacksonvil­le, Florida, Tommie Bailey of Cincinnati, OH, Willie Cole and Levon Cole, both of Elyria, 22 grandchild­ren, 15 great-grandchild­ren, a host of great great-grandchild­ren and special caregiver Ella Cole of Elyria. Sisters, Bonnie Roberts, Elmira Patterson, both of Meridian, Mississipp­i and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Preceded in death by wife Jessie Nel Cole, son Jackie Cole, daughter Nancy Cole Hill, grandsons Jason L. Cole, Tommie Bailey, Jr., parents Joe Cole and Mary Houston, stepmother Lucy Cole, sisters Florence Holiday, Loane Clark, Addie Hudson, brothers Clint Houston, Robert Cole, W.R. Cole, Theron Cole, James Cole and Morris Cole.

Friends may call Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 noon in the Jones Chapel AME Church, 343 17th Street, Elyria. Reverend Archie White, Pastor of Faith Chapel AME, of Fostoria, OH and Reverend Dixie Smith will officiate.

Burial in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.

Cecilia was born in Mayaquez, Puerto Rico on December 5, 1922 and had been a resident of Lorain since 1963. She previously resided in New York City.

Mrs. Martinez retired from Lorain City Schools.

She was a former member of Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain.

Cecilia was an accomplish­ed seamstress. She enjoyed reading and embroidery. Her children were her life.

She is survived by her daughters, Lillian Ramos of Orlando, FL, Dianna Pagan (Ray) of Lorain, son Ramon “Ray” Martinez (Mary Ellen) of St. Augustine, FL, daughters Mildred Silva (Frank) of
