NOVA – Robert Paul Kanuch Sr., 71, of Nova, died December 16, 2014 at Hospice of North Central Ohio, in Ash - land.

Friends may call Monday, December 22, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland. Friends may also call Tuesday, December 23, 2014 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will begin at 12:30 p.m. at Ashland County Memorial Park with Rev. James “Thunderbea­r” Yates and Pastor Glenn Sprunger officiatin­g, where military rites will be held. Robert was born May 24, 1943 in Elyria, Ohio to Paul and Ella {Bailey} Kanuch.

Robert served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962-1965 during the Vietnam War.

He married Linda Holcomb on June 18, 1966.

He was a past member of Vietnam Veterans of America, Rolling Thunder, Veterans of the Vietnam War, American Legion Post 88, and Native American Indian and Veterans Center, Inc. Robert enjoyed bowling, restoring cars, racing dirt track and motorcycle­s, demolition derbies, watching NASCAR, going to Native American Pow Wows, and dancing warriors traditiona­l.

He was a truck driver for over 30 years. He owned B & L Tire for 10 years and worked for Graphite Sales Inc. for over 20 years.

Robert will be deeply missed by his wife Linda of 48 years; children Robert Paul (Tami) Kanuch Jr. and Victoria J. Bennett, both of Ashland; grandchild­ren Nicholas, Blake, and Arieanne Kanuch, and Phillip and Tabitha Bennett; one soon to be greatgrand­child; sisters Shirley Schuster of Lorain and Emma Watson of Ashland, and multiple nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Trumpy of North Carolina, and brother Gary Kanuch.
