Woman dies in crash in Columbia Twp.
A 75-year-old woman died in a one-vehicle crash Dec 18, according to the Elyria Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol
According to a news release, the crash occurred on Columbia West River Road north of Plainview Court in Columbia Township
At 7:27 p m , a 2002 Toyota Camry was southbound on Columbia West River Road According to the release, the Toyota failed to make a slight curve to the right, went off the east side of the road, striking a guardrail and a tree

nounced dead
Grafton center to provide bikes
Residents and staff from the Grafton Reintegration Center have teamed up with local agencies and nonprofit organizations to provide bikes, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction
According to a news release, 51 children will receive a new bike for Christmas from Kate Koch, executive director of the Bike Lady Inc and Lorain County Children Services
The residents and staff started assembling the bikes on Dec 18 and they will be delivered before Christmas
“These types of events are good for the community and the residents,” Warden Bennie Kelly said “It gives the residents an opportunity to give back and keep connected to the community ”
Counterfeit bill reported to police
Elyria police were dispatched to Subway, 521 Lake Ave , for a report of a counterfeit bill
According to a police report, an employee showed the officer three photos of a bald black male who used the counterfeit bill between 8:45 and 8:50 p m Dec 18
Subway had three photos of the suspect on its security system, which were forwarded to the officer The $50 bill was taken by FirstMerit Bank on Abbe Road and was to be forwarded to the Secret Service
