LORAIN – Stephen P. Kruman, 70 of Lorain, passed aw a y Thursday, December 18, 2014 in Kingston of Vermilion following a lengthy illness. He was born December 13, 1944 in Cleveland. Then relocated to Avon Lake in 1954 and then moved to Lorain in 1967.

He served in the United States Navy in the Vietnam War aboard the USS Boston CAG-1 (the world’s first guided missile cruiser).

Steve retired in 1994 from the Ironworker­s Local 17, Cleveland. He worked as a Structural Ironworker for over 30 years. He helped construct a lift bridge in Monrovia, West Africa.

Steve was a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, Lorain. He was a life member of AMVETS 47 and St. Lad’s Club of Lorain. He enjoyed traveling and gambling.

He will be dearly missed by his sister Nancy Kruman of Lorain and brothers John (Judy) Kruman Sheffield Lake, Tom (Patty) Kruman of Yalaha, Florida; step daughter Mada Aponte of Lorain and step son David Aponte of Lorain, grandchild­ren Adam and Jade; nephews and nieces and a best friend and brother iron worker Robert Beckett of Elyria.

Steve was preceded in death by his wife of 13 years Mada Aponte Kruman parents August “Gus” and Clara (née, Hazeltine) Kruman brothers August Jr., James, Daniel and Lawrence Kruman.

His family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 8 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. His funeral service will be Monday with closing prayers in the funeral home at 10:30 AM., then funeral mass at 11 AM in Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, 2143 Homewood Dr. (Grove Ave. and Homewood Dr.) Lorain Ohio. Rev. Father John C. Retar, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Where military honors will be conducted by Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20.

The family suggests memorial contributi­ons to the Saint Frances Cabrini Parish Endowment Fund, 2143 Homewood Dr. Lorain, Ohio 44055.
