SHEFFIELD LAKE - Ida (nee Belletti) Horning, age 80, of Sheffield Lake, d ied Friday, Dec . 1 9 , 2014, at her home after a brief illness.

Ida was born Jan. 14, 1934, in Lorain, and had resided in Sheffield Lake for the past 30 years moving from Lorain.

She worked at Ted Jacobs in downtown Lorain from the early 1950’s through the 1970’s and then at National Pharmacy east side Lorain branch from the late 1970’s to early 1980’s.

Ida would want to be remembered as a kind and gracious lady with a warm and gentle heart who loved spending time with friends and family. She had a twinkle in her eye and a warm welcome when she would see a friend. She made you feel comfortable and you knew she was so happy to see you.

Upon meeting anyone with roots in Lorain, she could make a connection to their family and could relate to each and every person she ever met. She was truly blessed with wonderful neighbors and friends her entire life. She will be remembered by many as the lady who would give those that had touched her heart a hand painted rock of the Lorain Lighthouse from rocks she collected from the beach along Lake Erie.

Ida always kept herself active because of her passion for sewing and love of painting. She loved her tole painting group. She was a very creative person with an appreciation of style and craftsmanship. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain.

The family would like to thank the kind aides, nurses (especially Dan) and doctors and staff at Mercy Regional Medical Center and Mercy New Life Hospice.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Fossie, of Lorain; grandsons, James Fossie (Aleisha) of Amherst and Joshua Fossie of Lakewood; great-grandchildren, Julia and Cole Fossie; dear friend, Audrey Higgins, of Lorain; and many dear friends and wonderful neighbors.
