Green Bay, Wisconsin, in the Central Time Zone, is about an eight-hour drive from Cleveland and just a brief flight away. I flew United into Appleton International Airport after a stop at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. However, flying into Green Bay’s Austin Straubel International Airport would land you closer to football nirvana.

I stayed at the Kress Inn, 300 Grand St., De Pere,
Wisconsin, 920-403-5100, KressInn.com. On the campus of the small private St. Norbert College, the hotel is a short drive to Green Bay and offers an included continental breakfast and WiFi. It’s worth borrowing the Kress’ pair of bicycles (a man’s and a woman’s) to jump on the nearby Fox River Trail (foxrivertrail.com/ index.htm), which runs for 25 miles, 10 of them paved.
Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers, 1265 Lombardi Ave., Green Bay, 920-569-7500, Packers.com. Consider a stadium tour (bit.ly/1MFhJHy).
