Avon hosts match to collect funds for child cancer research TOP OF THE CROP

“Through the selling of raffle tickets and sunflowers, change drives at the elementary schools, and dollar dress down days by Avon staff members and private schools in the area, the players of the program worked hard to have a positive impact on the commu- nity,” Radigan said.

At this year’s event, Avon topped its 2015 fund raising efforts and presented Prayers from Maria with a $8,018.51 check.

Edward McNamara, co- founder of Prayers from Maria, was in attendance to receive the donation.

“We would like to thank the people of Avon and neighboring communities for their support in the efforts to raise funds for such an important cause,” Radi- gan said.

North Olmsted also hosted a charity match with Westlake this week to support breast cancer awareness.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the teams got a head start in supporting the cause. Both teams sold T-shirts to benefit the fight against breast cancer.
