Two Browns undergo surgery for injuries
Joel Bitonio and Austin Reiter’s seasons are completely done as the offensive linemen undergo surgeries. In other news, Jordan Poyer was discharged from the hospital and is out indefinitely
Browns doctors have been busy the last couple days.
Left guard Joel Bitonio underwent successful surgery late on Oct. 17 to repair a Lisfranc injury to his foot, a Browns spokesman said. He is expected to make a full recovery for next season.
Bitonio was injured late in the first half of the game with the Tennessee Titans on Oct. 16. A Lisfranc injury occurs when one or more of the metatarsal bones are displaced.
In other surgery news, offensive lineman Austin Reiter underwent reconstructive ACL surgery on Oct. 18 at University Hospitals. The surgery was performed by Browns head physician Dr. James Voos. Reiter is expected to make a full recovery. Reiter was injured on Oct. 2 playing the Redskins in his only game with
the Browns. He is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for the 2017 season.
Reiter played against the Redskins because regular center Cameron Erving was sidelined
with a bruised lung and because guard Alvin Bailey was being disciplined for an OVI arrest on Sept. 26.
The Browns also reported safety Jordan Poyer
was discharged from Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital on Oct. 18. Poyer was injured on a blindside block in the game with the Titans and will be out indefinitely.
