Trump Ethics Monitor worth checking out
Supporters of President Donald Trump have been led to believe he has only their interests at heart and his businesses have nothing to gain from his presidency.
National Public Radio has established a Trump Ethics Monitor to check progress on 10 pledges he made regarding ethics. We can’t allow this to slip beneath the radar because, as Kathleen Clark, a leading independent expert on legal ethics and government corruption said on npr.org, the ethics concern is a broad one.
“...We don’t want the government to endorse Trump businesses and we don’t want public office to be used to enrich Trump business,” she said.
Here’s one example of how little progress Trump has made toward fulfilling his pledges. According to npr.org:
Trump’s lawyer, Sheri Dillon, said on Jan. 11, “No communications of the Trump Organization ... will reference or be tied to President-elect Trump’s role as president.”
Yet on Jan. 21, 2017, a photo of the hotel’s staff in front of Trump’s International Hotel with the caption “Thank you Mr. President!” was published on Trump’s International Hotel’s official Facebook page and Instagram account.
Check out the Trump Ethics Monitor on NPR. Until now, Trump has wisely refrained from branding them a “fake news” organization because NPR is widely acknowledged as one of the most reliable and accurate sources of bipartisan information.
But give him time. His strategy is to deceive, deflect and blame others for his failures. Exactly what a dictator does.
James J. Vargo North Ridgeville That is great, but why do you have to read the fine print on the last part of the article to find out that Lorain is in second place? That is fantastic news for Lorain residents.
Second problem is that I cannot understand why the Morning Journal or the Lorain administration has not said a word about the presidential approval of the oil pipeline construction and what it could possibly mean to our local steel plant and employment. Lorain needs positive news. Thank you for your consideration. Bruce Burge Lorain
