Clippers: Bradley Zimmer hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot in the sixth, but host Columbus lost to Louisville, 11-4, in Triple-A action. The Bats had a 5-0 lead before the Clippers (5-3) finally got on the board with a four-run sixth inning. Aside from Zimmer’s home run, Richie Shaffer also blasted a two-run home run in the same inning. Adam Plutko took the loss for Columbus, giving up five runs in 3 2⁄3 innings. RubberDuck­s: Doubla-A Altoona scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a tie and defeat visiting Akron, 3-2. The RubberDuck­s trailed, 2-0, when Yu-Cheng Change laced a two-run triple to score Yhoxian Medina and Francisco Mejia in the sixth inning. Mejia went 1-for-3 and is now hitting .429 for the season for the 2-6 RubberDuck­s. Michael Peoples gave up two runs in six innings, striking out three for Akron, but Cole Sulser took the loss with two innings of relief. Captains: Brady Aiken had a shaky outing, walking seven and striking out one in 4 2⁄3 inning as Low-A Lake County lost to Lansing, 5-0. Despite the wildness, Aiken only gave up two runs before giving way to the bullpen. The Captains (3-5) were limited to six hits by the Lugnuts. Lake County was 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position, and left eight runners on base. Hillcats: Lynchburg was limited to three hits and lost to High-A Myrtle Beach, 4-0. The Hillcats (2-6) were 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position. Claudio Bautista and Jodd Carter each doubled for Lynchburg, but both were stranded in scoring position. Tristan McKenzie gave up two runs in five innings for the Hillcats, walking none and striking out five, but took the loss.
