Arts Council giving chance to display artwork
The Elyria Arts Council and the Elyria’s Bicentennial Committee are sponsoring an exhibition called “Elyria in art by Elyrians.”
The exhibition, open to all ages and mediums, gives fellow Elyrians the opportunity to showcase their talents with art on how they see Elyria in their eyes.
“Create a work of art about your town, written word, photo, or dimensional art, and share with your community to celebrate Elyria,” the Arts Council’s media release said.
The Arts Council created the exhibition because of its involvement with the Bicentennial Committee.
“We are very involved
with the Bicentennial,” chairperson Megan Rowe said. “We are actually on the arts and council committee for the Bicentennial.”
Residents may express art through all mediums such as poetry, pencil, colored pencil, markers, pastels, chalk, painting and
photography.
“We do have a size restriction and ask that all artwork be family oriented,” Rowe said.
The show featuring the community artwork will open July 22. It will remain open through Aug. 5, according to Rowe.
The Arts Council released applications this week and are available at various downtown venues, City Hall and the Elyria Arts Council.
The deadline for applications is June 24 to allow the Arts Council to book auxiliary display venues as necessary.
