Lady of Fatima Statue at church: Cleveland Diocesan Pilgrim Virgin of Fatima Statue will be at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 418 W. 15th St., Lorain, from May 17-23. Preschool registrati­on: Christ Lutheran Preschool is registerin­g children for the 2017-18 school year. Christ Lutheran Preschool is a Christian-based Five Star Step Up to Quality Award winner (the highest rating). It offers many different class options for 2 1⁄2 to 5 year olds. New for fall is a class for 2-½ year olds with options on Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday morning. A twoday, a three-day or a 2 day p.m. class is available for 3-year- olds. Christ Lutheran Preschool is located inside Christ Evangelica­l Church 32747 Lake Road, Avon Lake at the intersecti­on of Route 83 and Lake Road. Book fair: Lorain Faith UMC, 2201 Reid Ave., Lorain will host a Book Fair from 12:30 to 3 p.m., May 20. Books are appropriat­e for children ages Pre-K to sixth grade. Catholic Golden Agers meet: The Catholic Golden Agers will meet at 11:30 a.m., May 17 in the social hall at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Amherst. The menu is chicken croissants, potato salad, pickles, dessert and drinks. The cost is $4. The Skylarks will present a musical program. Mothers will be honored. Tickets will be sold for the July luncheon provided by Smith’s at the cost of $10 at the May and June meeting. The menu is swiss steak, cabbage rolls, chicken paprikash, mashed potatoes, parsley buttered noodles, buttered corn, green bean casserole, garden salad, rolls, drinks, and dessert. St. Anthony Senior Sociables to meet: St. Anthony Senior Sociables will meet at 12:30 p.m. May 18 at Sugarcreek Restaurant in Sheffield Village at the intersecti­on of Abbe and Detroit roads. St. Peter festival: The popular St. Peter Parish annual festival will be 5 to 9 p.m., Aug. 5 and 1 to 7 p.m., Aug. 6, at 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The public is invited to attend for fellowship, homemade food, beverages, live music and dancing, children’s games, raffles, instant bingo, and other games of chance. Admission is free and there is plenty of free, safe, convenient parking available. Vacation Bible School: St. Paul Lutheran Church, 27993 Detroit Road in Westlake, will be hosting a free Vacation Bible School (VBS) from June 19 through 23. This program will be from 9 a.m. to noon and is open to all children ages 3 through fifth grade. This year’s theme, Maker Fun Factory, will include crafts, games, and lots of activities to teach children that they were created by God and built for a purpose. Blessing of Graduates: The North Ridgeville Ministeria­l Associatio­n offers all high school graduates a “Blessing of our Graduates” worship service at 7 p.m. May 22. The service will be at St. Peter’s Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. All are welcome to attend this time of worship and the celebratio­n of high school graduates. BBQ fundraiser: The public is invited to a Texas BBQ fundraiser from 5 to 7 p.m. May 13, to benefit Little Lighthouse Learning Center, inside the ABI Synagogue at 1715 Meister Road, Lorain. The event will also include basket raffles and 50⁄50 raffle following dinner. Grilled by Pogie’s Catering and the meal includes: barbecue chicken, corn on the cob, cole slaw, baby red skin potatoes, roll and butter dessert and beverage included. Drive-thru dinners: St. Jude Women’s Guild at 180 7th St. Columbiana, will be offering drive-thru dinners from 4 to 6 p.m. (or until sold out) every first Thursday of the month. Price is $8 and all proceeds will go to “Rebuilding together in Faith, Hope & Love” campaign to renovate and expand our church. Sunday services: Old Stone Church, 553 S. On Sunday, May 14, it will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the Rosary followed at 10 a.m. with a part Latin Mass by Fr. Thomas Sanders. Marathon of Rosaries: Every first Saturday of the month there is a “Marathon of Rosaries to Protect the Unborn” from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. in the Eucharisti­c Chapel of St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1339 E. Erie Ave., Lorain. A new rosary is prayed every half hour on the hour for an end to legalized abortion. We invite all of those pro-life citizens to join with us in prayer. Free community meal: On the last Sunday of every month from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Journey of Faith Church in North Ridgeville cooks and serves a fresh hot meal for those in need in the community. This is done in connection with Community Care in North Ridgeville and other churches in the area. The community meal provides more than a hot meal though. It provides a time to sit down and relax with others in the community while being cared for.
