Police and court briefs Woman robbed at gunpoint at home

A 55-year-old Lorain woman was robbed at gunpoint in her home July 13, according to a Lorain police report.

At 9:49 a.m., police were called to a residence in the 2400 block of Apple Avenue.

The woman told police while she was sleeping in her living room, she noticed a glare coming from the kitchen before opening her eyes to a man standing over her and pointing a gun at her face, the report said.

The intruder demanded money from the victim, who responded in saying she did not have any. The suspect then snatched her smartphone before running through the residence after the victim said she was having difficulty breathing, the report said.

The victim noticed a second male intruder inside the residence before both men fled on foot, exiting through the side door, the report said.

After further examinatio­n of her home, the victim stated the intruders entered her house through an open kitchen window.

Video surveillan­ce of the suspects was captured by the victim’s neighbor, which showed two men walking north on Apple near East 26th Street before approachin­g the victim’s residence.

Police noted that the suspect’s faces were not visible at any point during the video, according to the report.

One suspect is described as a thin, dark male with black hair who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, with skull prints, dark pants and black shoes. He was armed with a handgun and spoke with a Spanish accent, the report said.

The second suspect is a thin, possible Hispanic male about 5 feet, 8 inches tall who was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white shoes in addition to having a dark fabric covering his face, the report said.
