LCCC board members re-appointed, sworn in

Two LCCC board members were re-appointed to new five-year terms on Sept. 7.

Teresa Gardner and Donald Ortner were reappointe­d to the Lorain County Community College Board of Trustees by Ohio Governor John Kasich on Sept. 7 and sworn in at the board’s Sept. 21 meeting, according to a news release.

“It is my great pleasure to serve the community on the LCCC Board. We strive to keep education affordable while assuring that the college runs efficientl­y,” Gardner said. “LCCC and its leader, Dr. Marcia Ballinger, are all about helping our students find the right path to success.”

Gardner, of North Ridgeville, is retired and serves as a community volunteer. Gardner was born in the Phillipine­s and moved to the United States in 1978. She and her husband, William, have two daughters Megan and Katarina, according to the release.

“I appreciate the opportunit­y to continue serving on the LCCC Board of Trustees. I believe the college is one of Lorain County’s greatest assets,” Ortner said.

Ortner is the owner of Associated Contractor­s, Inc., a heavy excavating and site utility constructi­on company. He is the president of the Henrietta Township Zoning Commission and has served on the commission since 1996. He is also a member of the LCCC Foundation Board of Trustees. Ortner and his wife Deborah, have two sons, Matthew and Joshua who both attended LCCC. The Ortners who are also new grandparen­ts, live in Oberlin, the release said.

“I am happy that we’ll continue to have the experience that both Teresa Gardner and Don Ortner bring to the board in helping us guide this institutio­n,” Ballinger said.
