Locals earn merit scholarships at BW
Students from our area were among more than 400 first-year students welcomed to the Baldwin Wallace University campus this fall who claimed $6.1 million in merit scholarships for their outstanding high school achievements. BW’s merit scholarships are awarded to full-time students and are renewable up to four years with good academic and social standing. BW grants a wide range of scholarships to current students each year. Including merit and need-based scholarships, BW students received over $45 million in financial support from the University for the 20172018 academic year. The following local students were awarded merit scholarships:
Aubrey Baumler of Huron, a graduate of Huron High School majoring in Spanish and political science, earned a $16,000 Presidential Scholarship.
Alexander Bishop of Avon Lake, a graduate of Avon Lake High School majoring in accounting, earned a $12,000 Deans Scholarship.
Hailey Blankenship of Berlin Heights, a graduate of Firelands High School majoring in pre-physical therapy, earned a $12,000 Deans Scholarship.
Maxwell Bourque of Avon, a graduate of Avon High School majoring in political science, earned a $12,000 Deans Scholarship.
Scott Boyce of Westlake, a graduate of Westlake High School majoring in sport management, earned a $12,000 Deans Scholarship.
Joella Byron-Dixon of Oberlin, a graduate of Oberlin Senior High School majoring in psychology, earned a $12,000 Deans Scholarship.
Ryan Detwiler of Westlake, a graduate of Lakewood High School majoring in instrumental performance, earned a $16,000 Presidential Scholarship.
Kasi Didion of Sandusky, a graduate of Perkins High School majoring in early childhood education, earned a $14,000 Trustees Scholarship.
