The body of Terrence P. Hopkins, 43, of Rocky River was recovered from the Rocky River in the early afternoon of Nov. 26 by divers from the Cleveland Metroparks and Southwest Emergency Response Team, according to a Rocky River news release.

A Rocky River police officer noticed Hopkins, a man wanted by authorities, in a car parked outside an apartment complex at the corner of Wooster Road and Malvern Road at approximately 9 p.m., Nov. 25, according to the release.

Hopkins exited the car and, when police identified him as the wanted man, a small foot chase ensued, the release said.

The officer saw Hopkins jump over one fence and go underneath another which directly leads to a cliff above the Rocky River, according to the release.

Officers searched the area for 15 minutes until they received word that fishermen near the Rocky River Reservation Emerald Necklace boat launch reported they saw a man in the water, the release said.

An officer and fisherman attempted to rescue the man, but were unable due to the current and temperature of the weather, according to the release.
