Inside: What is being looked at in a candidate.
Lorain school Chief Executive Officer David Hardy Jr. is seeking seven chief positions to lead the academic turnaround of the school district.
In addition, in late 2017 the district began advertising for three other administrative positions: a dean of academic outcomes; turnaround principals; and deans of scholar and family engagement.
Here are brief descriptions taken from the full descriptions posted online.
Dean of Academic Outcomes
The dean of academic outcomes “will play a critical role as an instructional leader who ensures scholar achievement in enriching, rigorous, focused and joyous learning environments,” the job description said.
“Using effective datadriven, evidence-based approaches, the dean of academic outcomes will lead an effort to advance academic achievement for all scholars and coach teachers on improving their daily instruction,” the description said. “Through this effort, the dean of academic outcomes will pave the way for transformative change in all Lorain schools, implementing an academic approach that ensures an excellent educational experience for each of our scholars.”
Turnaround principal
“The principal will lead a school turnaround effort to increase academic outcomes, using effective data-driven decision-making processes,” the job description said.
“The principal will seek to create a positive school climate and culture, increase family and community engagement and ensure efficient scheduling for scholars and teachers alike.
“The principal will be charged with empowering a school community to transform and ensure that each of our scholars receives an excellent educational experience.”
Dean of Scholar and Family Engagement
The dean of scholar and family engagement “will build strong, cohesive systems that create and sustain positive school culture, inspire scholars to do the right thing when no one is watching and build powerful relationships between scholars, teachers and families,” the description said.
The dean will report to the principal and be supported by the district Chief Family Office, led by the chief family officer.
