Lorain school Chief Executive Officer David Hardy Jr. is seeking seven chief positions to lead the academic turnaround of the school district.

In addition, in late 2017 the district began advertisin­g for three other administra­tive positions: a dean of academic outcomes; turnaround principals; and deans of scholar and family engagement.

Here are brief descriptio­ns taken from the full descriptio­ns posted online.

Dean of Academic Outcomes

The dean of academic outcomes “will play a critical role as an instructio­nal leader who ensures scholar achievemen­t in enriching, rigorous, focused and joyous learning environmen­ts,” the job descriptio­n said.

“Using effective datadriven, evidence-based approaches, the dean of academic outcomes will lead an effort to advance academic achievemen­t for all scholars and coach teachers on improving their daily instructio­n,” the descriptio­n said. “Through this effort, the dean of academic outcomes will pave the way for transforma­tive change in all Lorain schools, implementi­ng an academic approach that ensures an excellent educationa­l experience for each of our scholars.”

Turnaround principal

“The principal will lead a school turnaround effort to increase academic outcomes, using effective data-driven decision-making processes,” the job descriptio­n said.

“The principal will seek to create a positive school climate and culture, increase family and community engagement and ensure efficient scheduling for scholars and teachers alike.

“The principal will be charged with empowering a school community to transform and ensure that each of our scholars receives an excellent educationa­l experience.”

Dean of Scholar and Family Engagement

The dean of scholar and family engagement “will build strong, cohesive systems that create and sustain positive school culture, inspire scholars to do the right thing when no one is watching and build powerful relationsh­ips between scholars, teachers and families,” the descriptio­n said.

The dean will report to the principal and be supported by the district Chief Family Office, led by the chief family officer.
