The Morning Journal (Lorain, OH)
Thanks for success of State of South Elyria
Gratitude, appreciation, and thanks are the words the Elyria 5th Ward community wishes to convey to those who share our passion for transforming the South Side community.
Just like those courageous leaders of our past, we dare to answer the call to serve and build on the work of those servant leaders who worked tirelessly to help improve our neighborhood.
Public servants like Judge John Howard, Thomas Shores, Herman Larkins, Bill Ogle, Grant Keys, and Alan Zaleski, along with community leaders like Ike Chapman, Bob Palmer, James Mitchell, Mother Rutledge and Azalee Yarbrough.
The State of South Elyria event was a night of celebration, reflection and a tribute to those courageous leaders who came together and envisioned a better South Elyria.
Thank you, Kristen JonesSchmittgen from the Wesleyan Village, Adrian Sanchez from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lorain County, Steve Bevan from Gold Star Awards, who is celebrating 20 years of service to the community, Lisa M. Gonzalez, Stacie Starr, Elyria Teens Achieve Success, Elyria Schools Superintendent Tom Jama, Community Foundation of Lorain County CEO Cynthia Andrews, the Rev. Charles Diedrick from St. Mary’s Church, the Rev. Carl Small from the Elyria Second Baptist Church, Penny Lynch, Brenda Warren and all of those who continue to believe that our best days are ahead.
